SciShow

SciShow is a YouTube science education channel created in 2012 by Hank Green under Complexly, the educational production studio he co-founded with his brother John Green. With over 8 million subscribers and more than 2.1 billion total views as of 2025, it is one of the most-watched science channels in YouTube history. The channel covers a broad sweep of scientific topics — chemistry, physics, biology, zoology, geology, astronomy, medicine, psychology, anthropology, and more — in accessible short-form and long-form video explainers anchored in cited research and presented by a rotating cast of science communicators.

The channel is hosted by Hank Green and a team of regular co-hosts that has included Michael Aranda, Stefan Chin, Rose Bear Don't Walk, and others. Rather than focusing on a single presenter's personality, SciShow's identity rests on the quality and breadth of its subject matter and its commitment to accuracy and sourcing. In February 2026, Complexly founders John and Hank Green donated their equity in the company, restructuring it as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission focused on producing free, accessible, and fact-based educational video. The SciShow network's scale — reaching tens of millions of students and curious adults with free, accurate science content — makes it one of the most significant science literacy infrastructure projects in the digital media landscape, operating without paywalls and in direct competition with the enormous volume of low-quality or actively misleading science content on the same platform.
