Biography

Leonard Coldwell was born Bernd Klein in Germany in 1958. He also used the name Bernd Witchner at various points. He claims to have discovered healing abilities at age 14 when he says he cured his mother of terminal liver cancer, hepatitis C, and cirrhosis — claims with zero documentation. He alleges he spent 16 years running European hospitals before being persecuted by the pharmaceutical industry, but no evidence for these practices has been verified.

In the mid-1990s he began establishing a presence in the United States, partnering briefly with Fit for Life author Harvey Diamond. He legally changed his name to Leonard Coldwell in 1999. Over the following decade he reinvented himself as a motivational speaker and cancer cure promoter, affiliating with Kevin Trudeau's Global Information Network (GIN).

Coldwell has variously claimed to hold four PhDs, eight doctorates, and several master's degrees. Investigation has confirmed only an honorary Doctor of Humanities from Louisiana Baptist University, a non-accredited institution. His central claim — that he has cured more than 35,000 cancer patients with a 92.3% success rate — has no supporting documentation of any kind.

He continues to operate online, selling books, supplements, and speaking appearances to audiences that include cancer patients seeking alternatives to conventional treatment.
